Cultures are very interesting. What is regarded as beautiful in one place may not be the same in another. Although this is not true when looking at the eyelash. For centuries long eyelashes have been compared with beauty. I tried to research the origins of this cultural phenomenon but came up empty handed. If anyone does have factual knowledge about how far back in history the beauty of the eyelash goes, please leave it in the comments section.
My take on the idea of long eyelashes and beauty is that it draws attention to the eyes. We have all heard the cliché line “the eyes are the window to the soul.” so anything that draws attention to them must be a good thing.
I find it funny that long eyelashes while being noticed by men are not what most men consciously look for when deciphering a women’s beauty. But for women, the length of eyelashes is quickly noticed leading to the many eyelash enhancer products on the market we see today. Unconsciously men must think long eyelashes are a trait to judge beauty. Maybe it is just part of our nature.
