There are some medical conditions that cause the eyelashes to drop out completely. One such condition is blepharitis. Blepharitis is caused by bacteria or a skin condition such as acne rosacea. Blepharitis is characterized by swollen red and itchy eyelids and may also cause scales to form. It is not a contagious condition and it does not cause lasting damage to the eyesight. Nevertheless blepharitis is unsightly and can lead to eyelash loss.

If you use an eyelash conditioner on your lashes as soon as they start growing back in they will soon become thicker, longer and fuller.
